David. B

David. B, publisher of La'Association, is an amazing comic book artist. He wrote his autobiographic graphic novel 'Epileptic', which took him 20 years to start due to personal content. He visited LSU on November 12th for a lecture and had an opening at the Shaw Center, displaying My Story/ My Stories collection. He is charming! There were only 6 people in the audience during the lecture and I blame that on the location of the lecture. Instead of being in the Design Building Auditorium it was held in the LSU Auditorium, which I had trouble finding. He influenced the comic book scene tremendously in France. He tells me that me learned how to draw by starting this comic. It was very hard for him to actually start this comic because it has a lot of painful memories in it. His brother being epileptic took a toll on his family and him. David said, "The ink makes the pain go away." When he said that I wanted to hug him, it was so sincere. Drawing this comic made him realize that the only thing he could do for his brother was to tell his story, Epileptic, being the journal of his and his brothers life. "If I was not going to be a comic book artist, I wanted to be a doctor, so I could help my brother."-David. Writing this story gave him some peace of mind. I designed the poster for his lecture and he signed it for me, I will be posting that as soon as I scan it in on Monday.

Christmas on Mars

watched this movie last night with Ian. It was fantastic. It took them 7 years to finish this movie and Wayne Coyne, lead singer of The Flaming Lips, directed it. All band members took part in the movie and it was filmed in Wayne's backyard. Each scene was beautiful and the props were really interesting. I think that Santa is God, the baby is Jesus, the guys whose eyes bleed could be Mary. Who knows, you watch it and determine it for yourself. I don't think it is a religious film, it hit me of a more drug inspired spiritual journey that looked and sounded amazing.

The Future of Food: How Science Will Solve the Next Global Crises.

Forty years ago, advances in fertilizers and pesticides boosted crop yield and fed a growing planet. Today, demand for food fueled by rises in worldwide consumption of meat and protein is again outpacing farmers ability to keep up. It's time for the next Green Revolution.

Light Art

3D color project

I enjoyed the 3D project. I experimented with light art. I took pictures of lights that I drew in the air with. All lights off and black board behind me I jumped around in my apartment looking like a crazy person taking pictures of moving lights. I'm still composing compostions with all the different pictures I took.

First time on computer

Before I learned about resolution I drew my first project on the computer at 72res. I used Adobe Illustrator CS2. The project was to design a stamp collection. I practice yoga so I choose the four postures that I think are most important to achieve that over all balance of mind and body. I see alot of things I'd like to change about this and will sometime. It is funny to look back and see where I made mistakes. The concept is really the strongest element of this current design. I plan on tweeking this first project and posting it.

Visibility is increasing

A graphic design project. We picked a phrase from the list of emergency codes they use to communicate on ships. I turned 'visibility is increasing' into a poster for manhattan vision associates.
